Welcome To Nonleague
Football History
The story of the wonderful game of
nonleague football from the age of the great amateurs
right through to present day FA Cup shocks.
The media and prawn sandwich brigade may be head over heels
in love with the Premiership but for many of us there is
another world of football out there - the world of Nonleague
Football.
The nonleague, semi-professional, amateur (call it what you
will) game has a rich history and on these pages I hope to
bring some flavour of that nonleague football history onto the
web.
My name is Craig Ellyard and I work as a journalist for the
NonLeague Today newspaper.
Many of the articles on this site were first published in
Nonleague Today and I would like to thank group editor Dave
Watters for allowing me to reproduce those articles on this
website.
You will also find plenty of exclusive material on the
site which I hope, in time, to build up to be a valuable
historical resource for the follower of the nonleague
game.
However I have no intention of trying to make this site into
a statistical resource. Richard Rundle already
performs that job brilliantly on his FCHD site and for current results
and tables Tony Kempster provides an unparalleled
service on the Internet.
What you will find on this site are plenty of interesting
articles, histories of nonleague clubs, memories of great
matches and characters and round -ups of seasons gone
by.
Hopefully video and audio will also (eventually) play
their part on the site.
I will welcome contributions from anyone who has any
interest in nonleague football history and invite you to
bookmark this site and return regularly as I will be
adding more material almost every day.
If you would like to contribute an article for the website
please contact me. Thank
you.
